OUR MISSION​

To raise awareness of and funds to fight childhood hunger and food insecurity while fostering community in a celebration of two of North Carolina's cultural assets: barbecue and bluegrass.

The Pit’s 13th ‘Cuegrass Festival returns to downtown Raleigh Saturday, April, 15, 2023! Join us for the biggest ‘Cuegrass yet as we fire up the pig cookers and serve plenty of our famous Eastern North Carolina-style barbecue and a selection of local beers. 

It’s all for a good cause. Our primary beneficiary for 2023 is SAFEchild’s Champion Our Children capital campaign. Funds will also support the Occoneechee Council, and the Junior League of Raleigh’s BackPack Buddies program, which helps provide children at Lacy, Hunter, Root, Conn, and Beaverdam Elementary Schools with healthy weekend meals and snacks during the school year.

Partnerships allow us to create the most impact year after year and guarantee that 100% of the money made at ‘Cuegrass goes directly to local North Carolina programs supporting children in our community. 'CUE FACTS

  • $185,500 raised for local organizations  

  • 10 different charities helped: BackPack Buddies, SafeChild, Cub Scouts, Team Chris Combs, Food Banks of CENC, 4-H Club, NC Farmers via AWA, WC Breeze Family Farm, Read & Feed, and Feed the Farm  

  • 1 in 6 kids in North Carolina do not have enough food to eat. ‘Cuegrass funds local BackPack Buddies programs to help change that. 

  • Thanks to funds raised at ‘Cuegrass, the Junior League of Raleigh’s BackPack Buddies Program has been able to provide meals for 300 campers at the YMCA’s Camp High Hopes for the 3rd year in a row.

The total annual cost of this critical medical intervention exceeds $1,000,000 which is why the financial support received from Cuegrass is essential and lifesaving.”
