OUR MISSION​

To raise awareness of and funds to fight childhood hunger and food insecurity while fostering community in a celebration of two of North Carolina's cultural assets: barbecue and bluegrass.

At The Pit—and all Empire Eats restaurants—we feed our community every day. Great food and great hospitality are at the core of who we are and what we do. Our devotion to feeding our neighbors is why the issues of childhood hunger and food insecurity are so important to us.

Once again we’re giving proceeds to the Junior League of Raleigh’s BackPack Buddies program, which helps provide children at Lacy, Hunter, Root, Conn, and Beaverdam Elementary Schools with healthy weekend meals and snacks during the school year. Funds raised at ‘Cuegrass will also help support Cub Scout Pack 325, and programs at Ligon elementary school.

100% of the proceeds at 'Cuegrass go directly to these worthy organizations. Sponsorships help us make the greatest impact for the kids who need it the most. We couldn't do it without you!

'CUE FACTS

  • $161,500 raised for local organizations  

  • 9 different charities helped: BackPack Buddies, SafeChild, Cub Scouts, Team Chris Combs, Food Banks of CENC, 4-H Club, NC Farmers via AWA, WC Breeze Family Farm, and Feed the Farm  

  • 1 in 5 kids in North Carolina do not have enough food to eat. ‘Cuegrass funds local BackPack Buddies programs to help change that. 

  • Thanks to funds raised at ‘Cuegrass, the Junior League of Raleigh’s BackPack Buddies Program has been able to provide meals for 300 campers at the YMCA’s Camp High Hopes for the 3rd year in a row.
